Support the Unatego Spartans Athletic programs with their 5k race!
The TouchDown Club is excited to announce that we will once again be hosting the 3rd Annual Spartan Pride 5k Health Challenge on Sunday, October 25th, at 1pm.
We have made major adjustments to the event to make sure we are following all social distancing and CDC guidelines. We have created new protocols and are taking every precaution necessary to make this a fun and safe environment for everyone.
Some of these precautions include contactless registration, sanitizing stations, and ensuring that a sufficient supply of PPE is available for staff, officials and volunteers at the event site at all times. Everyone will be required to wear the proper face coverings and follow all social distancing guidelines throughout the duration of the event. Runners will be allowed to removed their mask once social distancing is achieved on the race course and reapplying their mask once they return to the finish line.
We have also remove elements like the award ceremony which would be likely to cause participants to congregate. We lengthened the release time at the start and limited the number of racers at the start line by creating different heats. This will allow social distancing to be maintained throughout the entire event and compensate for any compression on the course.
Although this may not be the race you are typically accustomed to, we are excited to bring this event back, even if it is in a modified form.
The TouchDown Club was formed in 2006 by a group of parents and Community members. The TouchDown Club's mission is to support and enhance the Spartan Athletics program. All funds raised each year go directly to the players of Unatego athletic teams.
This October, the TouchDown Club is excited to announce it will be continuing the annual 5k race as a fundraising effort! The 5k race/walk through the village of Otego, starting and ending at the American Legion Fields. The money will help support athletic programs at Unatego Central School.
We encourage individuals, families and local sports team to compete in this year's race!
